Programs

1) EBT/Food Stamp Match

Good Farm Fund is dedicated to fundraising for the EBT Match to provide stability to the program and extend it to all certified farmers markets in Mendocino & Lake Counties and other retail outlets.

The Food Stamp Match is the single most effective way to support local farms and make local food more affordable for low-income community members. The EBT Match successfully redirects the subsidies away from industrial food in supermarkets and corner stores to local farmers by giving EBT users an additional dollar for every dollar they spend at the market (up to $15). This means they get $30 worth of produce, cheese, or meat for only $15 in EBT.

This program has been woefully underfunded and underutilized and we aim to grow it through broad community-based support as well as seeking large grants.

2) Good Farm Grants

The Good Farm Grant program will allocate modest grants directly to small local farms to fund specific projects and may include the purchase of items such as building materials, seeds, equipment, or livestock.

These grants are issued by a committee made up entirely of local farmers, because we believe they know best. Grant recipients will serve on the committee the following year.
